The weatherman did his best to keep folks away and for the most part he was spot on. It was quite a ride up from the Manatee River and though we didn't take any over the bow, we were very close and the only thing preventing it was our slow speed.
As always though, it was certainly worth the trip as once you're up in the bay it becomes a different world and the throngs that turned out for the event were not disappointed!
With the weatherman predicting thunderstorms and high seas most of the crowd that we're accustomed to for the event found other activities for the day. For the few that braved the forecast the 3-5's were 2-3's and though the cloud cover never really broke we were treated to some great music, on an afternoon with no rain and great people!
We made the trip down through Sarasota Bay to the New Pass Sand Bar for some live music, sun and fun courtesy of Marine Max Sarasota. It was a breezy day but there was plenty of sunshine to go around and everyone appeared to be having a great time.
What a great day! Started it with light wind and calm seas over to Fisherman's Creek and the Eckerd College Waterfront for the annual marine yard sale. As usual it was well attended, got to see a couple of old friends and meet the new faces at EC-SAR. After the yard sale we were off to Reggae Rise Up to get some pics of the beautiful people enjoying the island vibes off the Vinoy Basin.
The weather was perfect though it would have been better with fewer clouds it didn't seem to dampen anyone's attitude!
What a beautiful day at the New Pass Sand Bar in Sarasota on Sunday. Our sincere appreciation to the good folks at Marine Max Sarasota for their continued sponsorship of such a fantastic event for the local boating community!
