I decided to check out The Pub on the way back from Clearwater Beach on Saturday. The Pub is located on the West side of the Intercostal Waterway just off marker 27.

Docking

The fist thing that you'll notice about The Pub is their commitment to providing the best in dock space for Tampa Bay boaters. Walkways are cler, the docks well maintained and there are many. The Pub claims that there is space available for up to 50 boats and it certainly looks like at least that!

Dockmaster

The second thing you'll notice is that on weekends, holidays, etc. that you will receive a friendly and helpful greeting by Radcliff who will direct you to the appropriate spot, manage your lines and even lend a hand to folks needing it to get in and out of the boat. At other times, if you need assistance, simply sound the horn and an experienced staff member will lend a hand.

I selected a table outside and was greeted almost immediately by my server Susan. She was friendly, courteous, made sure that I knew what the daily specials were and that I had a cold beverage while I looked over the menu. I didn't really need a menu as I was eager to see how their grouper sandwich matched up with other recent reviews but it gave me a chance to relax with a cold beer and check out the other patrons.

Patio Area

The Pub has three sections on the deck with plenty of seating for those who prefer to enjoy the fresh air with their meal. All of the areas have a nice view of the water and there is a full bar outside to serve the patios where patrons are welcome to saddle up and enjoy a bite.

Grouper Sandwich

I ordered a blackened grouper sandwich with came with fries and, to be honest, wasn't expecting too much. I've been treated to grunt thin, over cooked, mushy or fishy "Grouper Sandwiches" that didn't have near the docking, service or waterfront. It was refreshing to see what I was delivered at The Pub... a full fall off the bun six ounces of lightly blackened, perfectly cooked, flaky grouper that tasted as if it were swimming yesterday!

The only bad thing about the grouper sandwich was that it was too good not to finish and then there was no room to sample anything else. I'm looking forward to returning to The Pub, with the wife and kids, to see if other menu items fare as well but at this point it's hard to argue with their claim of being the top destination for Tampa Bay dockside diners.

Great location, friendly service, loads of docking, beautiful views, a grouper sandwich, fries, two domestic drafts and Radcliff (dockmaster) all for $21.35!
