My wife, youngest daughter, and I had a light lunch after a day on the water at Sea Critters Cafe in St. Pete Beach. Access is easy from the Pass A Grill Channel, just follow the Nort West shoreline North past the marina and it's the second stop starboard or the last before the Vina Del Mar Bridge.

Navigation

There was docking for about 5 boats, although narrow, and the first step on low tide could prove to be quite a challenge for those tying up a smaller boat.

Docking

There was plenty of space on the deck outside so we achored up at one of the picnic tables to discuss the rest of the day. The tables were clean, arranged comfortably (not crammed together), the fans kept everyone cool and our spot provided a nice view of the waterway, a few boats and a couple of paddle boarders.

Restaurant

The service was friendly, fast and courteous. Our waitress made sure that our drinks were fresh, our food was OK and that we had everything that we needed. Though there were a number of enticing menu items we went with the old standards as we were looking for a quick, light bite. Elora had the chicken strips, Maribeth the crab salad sandwich and I went with a blackened grouper sandwich.

Food

My daughter said the chicken strips were about like they are everywhere (perfect), and my wife was very happy with the crab salad. It was loaded with real crab meat, fresh and just the right amount of the other stuff. The grouper sandwich looked great on the plate but was less than a half inch thick, light on the blackening seasoning and just plain underwhelming.

Overall it was a very pleasant experience and we would recommend it to anyone looking for a quick bite, friendly service in a casual/comfortable setting. It was easy to find, dock and we were surprised at the price... around $40 for the three meals, an iced tea, bloody mary and sprite.

If you're out and about around Pass A Grille give Sea Critters a try, tell em' that TampaBayBoater sent you... but maybe skip the grouper sandwich or give it a try and post your comment below.
